Lee Plantmason brings his combined clinical expertise with a long-standing interest in healthcare innovation and biomedical startups. He serves as an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine and as an attending physician at LA General Medical Center. From his early days at UCSF medical school, Lee has been active in the startup ecosystem, later serving as a Physician Consultant for Sharp Ventures and now bringing his perspective to GHIF. In addition, he has been deeply engaged in public policy and public health initiatives across Los Angeles, focusing on access to care, support for vulnerable populations, and comprehensive wraparound services for trauma survivors.

Lee was drawn to GHIF for its unique emphasis on including physicians and physician-scientists in venture capital. He values the opportunity to apply clinical insight directly to investment decisions and to work alongside a diverse network of professionals from medicine, finance, public policy, and engineering.

His varied career, spanning clinical practice, academic medicine, and applied research, has given him a distinctive perspective on the intersection of innovation and healthcare delivery. With a background that includes applied mathematics, public health, and bioengineering, Lee leverages his experience to identify and address gaps in clinical care. At GHIF, he brings this multifaceted expertise to evaluating startups, guiding founders, and helping ensure solutions are both clinically meaningful and aligned with the fund’s mission to improve patient outcomes.
